Erika received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University. She spent a year long-term substitute teaching in Southwest Michigan before taking a teaching job in Arizona. She spent ten years teaching out in Arizona, teaching K-6th grade, with her main focus in Math and Science. While out in Arizona, she also obtained her Master's Dregree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University. She moved back to Michigan in 2024.
Erika loves helping children understand new or difficult concepts. She knows each child is unique and learns differently. She likes to discover which approaches work best for each child to help them best understand the content. She has discovered that working one-on-one with students allows her to do this best. This is why she decided to start EuRIKA tutoring.
Outside of teaching children, Erika loves to spend time outdoors--hiking, camping, hammocking, exploring new places, and more. She also enjoys various creative endeavors: crafting, painting, building with Legos. She values spending time with her friends and family. She moved back to Michigan in order to spend more time with her nieces and nephews. After a long day, she always adores cuddling with her fluffy gray cat, Morris.
